What is a balustrade? The railing that keeps you on the deck.
A balustrade is the railing along the edge of a balcony, a deck or a set of stairs. Its job is to stop anyone falling off. Once a floor is more than a metre off the ground, the National Construction Code wants one at least 1000mm high.
Ours is a single sheet of 3mm aluminium, perforated with small holes, then folded along all four edges so the sheet becomes its own frame. You see through it, the breeze comes through it, and there is nothing to put together when it arrives.
Why choose a perforated balustrade? Six good reasons.
Made to stop a fall
Panels up to 2300mm long are covered by our engineering certificate to AS1170, the Australian standard for structural loads. They are made 1000mm high for balconies and decks more than a metre off the ground.
You can see straight through it
The plain PurePerf® panel is 63% open. Sit down on the deck and the view is still there.
Low maintenance
A textured powder coat. A regular wash, as the powder coater recommends, keeps it looking new.
Nothing to assemble
The frame is folded from the same sheet, so the panel arrives in one piece, ready to fix in place.
Your colour, your design
Over 100 Dulux® and Interpon® colours, a plain panel or a pattern, or artwork of your own.
Made for Australian conditions
Aluminium with a textured powder coat. Unlike timber, it will not rot or warp.
Jay and the team at Decoview did a fantastic job helping me to arrange my balcony balustrade. The level of detail in the product is fantastic with every detail considered. All parts required right down to the nuts and bolts were supplied with the balustrade and a custom hand rail was made to finish it of perfectly. I was also very happy with the price. I highly recommend Decoview and will use them again.

How it is made One sheet of aluminium. Folded into its own frame.
Each panel starts as one flat sheet of 3mm aluminium. We perforate it, then fold all four edges. The folds are what turn a flat sheet into a strong panel.
The top and bottom edges get a 50 x 40mm double fold. The two sides get a 50mm fold, which makes the panel easy to fix to your posts. The frame and the panel are the same piece of metal.
We make panels up to 2900mm long. We recommend 2300mm or less: a shorter panel flexes less, and 2300mm is the longest panel our engineering certificate covers. Leave a 3mm gap between panels when you install them.
Then each panel is powder coated in a textured finish, wrapped in Geofabric to protect the finish, and packed on a pallet for delivery.
Choose your colour Light for privacy. Dark to see through.
Colour changes how a balustrade looks from a distance. A light colour with a pattern gives the most privacy. A dark colour almost disappears, so you look past it to the view. Black is especially popular for that reason.
Pick a colour to see the panel
Colours on a screen are only a guide. These are the thirteen colours in our shop. We powder coat in over 100.
Choose your design Plain, patterned, or your own.
The plain PurePerf® panel is the most see-through. If you want a feature, a design from our range can be cut into the balustrade, or we can work from artwork of your own.

What owners say about their balustrade.
From first contact to delivery the team at Pool Perf/Decoview were very helpful & professional. We used the product for balustraling for our new build. We ordered 13 individually sized panels at a custom height, each panel fitted perfectly. Install was simple. It looks great and the best thing is that its not glass and I won’t be having to constantly cleaning it!! We have also ordered Pool Perf for our new pool as well. We would definitely recommend and worth the price!!
We are so happy with our Decoview panels. We went with the balustrade application due to the height of our deck. Excellent service, easy to install and a great quality product.
Really happy with the service and product. Considering most of the service was over the phone and email, the care and attention to detail was still there, and this was shown with the delivery of the actual balustrade. The fit, measurement, quality and design was spot on!
Around a pool?
When the balcony opens onto the pool, it may need to be the pool fence too.
If you can walk from a deck or balcony straight to the pool, that edge is usually part of the pool fence, so it has to keep small children away from the water too. Your certifier or council has the final say.
Our sister brand, PoolPerf®, makes the same folded panel 1200mm high. That is pool fence height, so one panel meets the balcony rules and the pool fence rules, and it matches a PoolPerf® pool fence below.
We have balustrade pool perf and everyone comments how gorgeous it is. We absolutely love it. Stylish, durable, doesn’t attract dust. Really awesome product xx

Quick answers
How high does a balustrade need to be?
The National Construction Code asks for at least 1000mm on any balcony, deck or platform more than a metre off the ground. Our panels are made 1000mm high. The rules change from state to state and with the height of the drop, and your certifier or council has the final say, so check yours with us before you order.
How long can each panel be?
We make panels up to 2900mm long. We recommend 2300mm or less, because a shorter panel flexes less and 2300mm is the longest panel our engineering certificate covers. Allow a 3mm gap between panels when you install them.
Does it meet the Australian Standard?
Panels up to 2300mm long are covered by our engineering certificate to AS1170, the Australian standard for structural loads, and are made to the National Construction Code height. Longer panels may need their own engineering.
Changed 3glass balustrades on deck to see what they looked like, now the other 5 will be changed to suit very unique look.
More detail
Do I have to put it together?
No. Each panel is one sheet of aluminium folded into its own frame, so it arrives in one piece. The folded sides make it easy to fix to your posts.
Can it go between my own posts?
Yes. You will see panels fitted between timber posts in our gallery. We also sell 50 x 50mm aluminium posts with a welded base plate. Ask us which fixing suits your job.
Can it follow my stairs?
Yes. Panels can be cut on an angle to follow a stair, and stepped or folded around a corner.
How much can I see through it?
The plain PurePerf® panel is 63% open. A dark colour is the easiest to see through. A busier design in a lighter colour gives more privacy.
What colours can I have?
Over 100 Dulux® and Interpon® powder coat colours. Black is especially popular, because it is the easiest to see through.
My balcony is next to a pool. Is this the right panel?
If you can get from the balcony or deck to the pool without going through a pool gate, that edge is usually part of the pool fence, and the pool fence rules ask for 1200mm. Your certifier or council has the final say. Our sister brand, PoolPerf®, makes the same folded panel at 1200mm for exactly this. See PoolPerf® Perforated Balustrading.
Do you deliver to my area?
Yes. We deliver Australia-wide, from the capital cities to country towns. Each panel is wrapped in Geofabric and packed on a pallet. Please check your delivery straight away and tell us about any damage within 48 hours.
What is the warranty?
Every panel carries a 10-year warranty against manufacturing defects, on top of your rights under Australian Consumer Law. It does not cover installation within 1km of the sea or within 1.5m of a pool’s splash zone, impact and accident damage, or harsh chemicals and abrasives. Our full warranty and terms have the detail.
Can I return a panel?
Every panel is made to your order, so we cannot take returns for a change of mind or a wrong measurement. If a panel arrives damaged, faulty or not as ordered, tell us within 48 hours of delivery, with clear photos, and we will work with you on a repair, replacement or refund.
How do I get a price?
Standard panels, gates and posts are priced in the shop. For custom sizes, designs or colours, ask for a custom quote or book a free Design Consult and we will price it with you.
Talk to a balustrade specialist. It is free.
Tell us the height of the drop, the length of the edge and how you use the space. We will help you choose the panel, the design and the colour, and tell you how to order it.
